Once you're independent, CE stops being purely a compliance exercise and becomes a real opportunity — courses in practice management, billing and insurance credentialing, or clinical specialties adjacent to your practice model can genuinely strengthen your business, not just satisfy a renewal requirement. State boards audit CE compliance, and "I took the courses but can't find the certificates" is not a defense that goes well at renewal time. Keep a simple, dedicated record — digital or physical — of every course completed, the certificate, the date, and the category it satisfies, updated as you go rather than reconstructed under deadline pressure.
